In Rhode Island Medicaid matters

Meet Maureen

Hi, my name is Maureen.  I am a 49-year-old woman with severe athetoid cerebral palsy.  I am a college graduate, I majored in  Building Construction Technology and design.  Most of my success in my life has based upon on the vital supports I receive from the Medicaid Waiver program.  Without Medicaid, I would not be able to get out of bed in the morning.  I wouldn’t be able to shower, dress, cook, eat, use the bathroom, do laundry and access the community without the assistance of others.  People without disabilities have trouble even imagining what it would be like to have a disability where one of their basic abilities might be somewhat impacted.  I live with cerebral palsy every day.  It impacts every facet of my life.  If I didn’t have the Medicaid Waiver program, I would not survive.
